    Questions and answers

  • What are the shape/dimensions of a bus stop pole?

    • Bus stop poles are about 1.75”x1.75” square. See documents on poles (1, 2) and bus shelter design drawings (3, 4, 5, 6).

  • Are pole “caps” removable?

    • Yes.

  • Does the bus WiFi have a sign-in page? Are there any other ways to connect to buses?

    • No.

  • Do we need to collect data 24/7 or are there more limited hours of operation?

    • Limited to sun light hours only.

  • Should the data we collect be made available to residents?

    • Yes.

  • ID tapping - % of users and acceptable miss rate?

    • Roughly 20% of people use cash.

  • Expectations for daily vs live data.

    • Daily.

  • Servicing availability

    • Monthly for prototype. Final product should be at least 6 months

  • Is there an app for people to see transit times, virtual card?

    • Yes. GO Miami-Dade. Transit times are also available in all third party applications

  • Priority of data --do we need to know how long people were there?

    • Yes.

  • Priority of data --do we need to know when people leave?

    • Yes.

  • Priority of data --do we need to know how many people are at a stop?

    • Within an acceptable range.

  • What types of poles are at the bus stops?

    • See post documents linked above.

  • What order of magnitude of accuracy for bus stop occupancy is acceptable?

    • We could start with buckets (0,1, less than 5, less than 10, more than 10)

  • How many kids ride the buses?

    • Less than 5%

  • What is the range of the bus WiFi?

    • Approx. 30ft

  • How long does each bus stop?

    • Depend on number of people boarding. Typically around 30 sec. Bus wont stop if no one boards.

  • Are there privacy concerns with having a camera system?

    • Yes. Fear of facial recognition.
